Community Guidelines – Bester
Our shared values and expectations for a supportive community.
Last updated: January 27, 2026
1. Welcome to the Bester community
Bester is built for people who want to grow—one habit at a time, with others by their side. We believe self-improvement feels better when it feels human: celebrated rather than judged, supported rather than competitive.
These guidelines exist to protect that spirit. They help us maintain a space where everyone can show up, experiment, and make progress without fear of harassment or harm.
We take safety seriously. That means we don't tolerate harassment, abuse, or anything that makes people feel unwelcome. By joining Bester, you're part of keeping this community safe.
2. Our values
Respect
Treat everyone with kindness. We come from different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. Disagreement is fine; disrespect is not.
Support
Cheer others on. A simple "nice work" can make someone's day. We're here to lift each other up, not tear each other down.
Authenticity
Be yourself. Share real progress, real struggles, real wins. Perfectionism isn't the goal—showing up is.
Safety
Protect yourself and others. Don't share personal information that could put anyone at risk. If something feels wrong, report it.

4. Enforcement actions
When something doesn't fit our values, we step in to protect the community. Our response depends on the severity, context, and history.
Warning
For minor first-time violations, we may issue a warning explaining the issue and how to avoid it in the future.
Content removal
We'll remove content that doesn't fit and let you know why.
Temporary suspension
For repeated or more serious issues, we might pause your access to the community (24 hours to 7 days). During this time, you won't be able to access social features in the Besterverse, but your personal habit tracking remains available.
Permanent ban
Severe violations (such as content sexualizing minors, credible threats of violence, or repeated serious offenses) result in permanent account termination.
When we remove content or restrict your account, we'll tell you: which rule was broken, what led to our decision, and how to appeal if you disagree.
We're human and make mistakes. If you think we got something wrong, you can appeal (see below).
5. How to report
If you see content or behavior that violates these guidelines, please report it. Reporting helps us keep the community safe.
To report content or a user:
- Tap the "..." menu on any post, comment, or profile
- Select "Report"
- Choose the reason that best describes the issue
- Add any additional details that might help us understand the situation
- Submit your report
Reports are confidential. The person you report won't know who filed the report. We review all reports and take action within 24 hours.
Blocking users
You can also block users to prevent them from seeing your content or contacting you. To block someone, go to their profile, tap the "..." menu, and select "Block."
6. Appeals process
If you believe we made a mistake in removing your content or taking action against your account, you have the right to appeal.
How to appeal:
Send an email to contact@bester-app.com with the subject line "Appeal: [your username]". Include:
- Your username and the email associated with your account
- A description of the action taken (content removed, suspension, etc.)
- Why you believe the decision was incorrect
- Any relevant context or evidence
We aim to review appeals and respond within 7 business days. Our decision after review is final.
If you disagree with our final decision, you have the right to seek remedy through courts or independent dispute resolution.
